You and I

You and I

You and I
met a millennium ago
two young souls above
living in virgin splendor,
in a fantasy of bright white
and angel wings.
Dancing, laughing in the depths of the sun,
we spent our carefree time in love.
An eternity we sat on high watching
the world revolve and creation commence.
Saw the tides and watched the Flood,
as your hand was locked in mine.
Witnessed wars and friends of ours
leave for the far off world.
Kissing tears of loved ones.
Spirits sent away,
leaving to begin again in a real body.
Whispered database of our eminent separation
brought an angelic tear to your eyes.
The time has come for me to go,
chosen to ride a sunbeam to Earth.
I kissed your tears away and
proclaimed my love for you.
Stepping off our cloud haven I descend
to my mother’s womb,
promising to remember you and love you
and wait for you.
Now that time has passed
and perdition has fought me all the way
I discovered my lost love,
without the frail feathers and external perfection
of brilliant white, but with your
locks of golden chestnut and talks of a love
for me, you’d never know from where spawned,
but knowing you’ll always love me
and I will always love you,
as I take you under me bright, feathered wings
keeping you from this temporary Hell
and all it’s necessary evils.
As we wait nestled in each others arms
waiting til we can return to our place in the skies.
