Telegraph Ave
Telegraph Ave.
Sather’s gate to the avenue
Berkeley lay behind
the sky over head, with clouds, deep blue.
In Market, treasures to find.
Children’s hands beg money from us
as we turn away
searching for a non-existent bus.
Shopping carts lined the Ave
with sliver vendors and incense vendors
there are souvenirs to have.
The record stores and pizza shop
bought students attentions
while scholars drank coffee, dreaming of inventions.
Back to the University
the tower clock chimed,
breaking our peace and tranquillity,
but after 15 minutes the noise died.
Onto the BART
and back to San Fran
out trip up North
ended where it began.
Spring will come soon,
snow weather bailed
flower blossoms bloom
and my application is mailed.
