NHS students don’t care?

Date April 4, 2008

Ok, this is probably more of a complaint that anything today. And perhaps one person will read it and care. As NHS advisor it’s my responsibility to confirm good standing for graduation, and today we began the process of telling people that they’re not in good standing. They had to have 30 hours completed by the end of Quarter 3. It’s not April 3rd and people still don’t have hours. We extended it to April 1st, but that didn’t seem to help at all. Now we’re talking April 14th, but the school has to print the commencement program. The kids I spoke with at our meeting today didn’t really seem to care at all. They laughed and joked and acted like they don’t care, but then these are the same parents who are yelling at my principal come May 28th. Not cool. Not at all.

I am so done with coddling them. In the real world you get zeroes on the work, fired from the jobs, etc… So why are we giving them more time? I am not doing this. We’re sticking to the rules, and there are expectations everyone has to follow. So what’s different here?
